Mozilla Events in 2008-09

Well, im a bit late to let you all know about this. I am a Official Mozilla Campus rep from India for Vellore Institute of Technology.
The first event (21-10-08 ) was a Video Conference in which Jono Di Carlo, he introduced to the latest projects of Mozilla like Ubiquity and it was a real surprise to everyone.
Later in 2008 (17-12-08 ) we had the On the Street video shoot, along with that I made a table for Mozilla and had interaction with the college students for nearly 4 hours, got many feedbacks and reviews about mozilla. I could promote firefox to many faculties and students.
Last week (13-03-09) we had a National Conference on Education and Research, Confer 2009, in which the President of CSI Prof. KK Aggarwal presided. I organised one more video conference which was very informative for the student audience. It was taken by Chris Hofmann, the director of engineering and Special Projects at the Mozilla Foundation and Corporation. The students were given a chance to have a direct contact with the Mozilla Foundation via these events. After the video conference I was asked to give a speech about the Mozilla Campus Rep program.
so whats upcoming? I am in discussion with some faculties in my college to migrate the college from IE to Firefox :) I dont know whether it will work or not, anyways im going to try.. :)

I would like to thank Jay Patel, Mary Colvig, Alix Franquet, Jono Di Carlo, Chris Hofmann and all Mozilla Team for their help and support to make these sessions a success :)

Google Workshop at Rajagiri Engineering College, Kochi

As a Google Desktop Student Ambassador, I organize some events for the Gadget developments. One of those were the Google Workshop and Desktop Gadget Development. Bijoy Thangaraj and Umakanthan were invited to become the speaker for the session, but they had some unavoidable meetings. So I had the responsibility of taking the session. I remembered the session we had last time in my College. The first part went too technical and was difficult for the students to follow the session. So I thought this time I will reduce the technical stuffs and try to include some cool things about Google in general. I started off with the History of Google, I showed the video which was played during the Google Developer Day 2008. In the beginning my talk was very boring, I made a lot of mistakes, I guess it might be coz this is my first session. Later I could speak without stopping, I dont know whether it was good or bad. My friends told it was good.

So as I had promised the attendees, I am embedding my presentation here:

And the sample program I developed was Memory Smiley gadget of Bijoy Thangaraj. The code for it is available as attachment to this post... Also we had a conference with Mozilla via air.mozilla.com. Chris Hofmann, director of engineering and Special Projects at the Mozilla Foundation and Corporation, was the speaker for it. He talked about the browser history and we had a questionnaire session afterwards.. I had a nice time is Cochin, had a chance to meet some of my old friends and blasted a lot with my VIT Friends :) Thanks to James, Bijoy, Mary, Alix, Chris, and Jay for their full support to make these events success :)

vishnus.name got a new dress :)

http://vishnus.name/ has got a new design now. Its completely coded by myself, on pure XHTML and CSS. Its also validated by w3c :) choosing of color was the first task for me, I chose skyblue because of a girl :) I dont know who she is, but I saw her when I was sitting with Shivany and Zuberia in a nescafe coffee shop.. she was wearing a white dress with skyblue works, and thus I got this color :) also skyblue is my dads' favorite color ;) I think this is my best design so far :)

Ping o matic Gadget

this is my first gadget after joining my college. Very simple one.. nothing heavy to showoff, but I find it very useful when I try to ping my Blog. So those of you who use Ping-o-matic pinging services can use this gadget. They have to enter the blog name and URL (optional RSS) and press Enter or Ping! button :)
