Google Gadgets vs. Yahoo Widgets...

I have been using Google Gadgets for months now. I havnt got any trouble with it. Last day as i was searching through the internet, i came across Yahoo! Widgets, something similar to Google Gadgets. So i thought of having it installed. The first creepy thing i came across with the Y!Widgets was, the complete download file has 15 MB whereas, Google Desktop, + GD SDK has only nearly 5 MB. Well people like me, who use dialup speed internet likes small sized files.
After download, i stopped the Google Desktop, and installed Yahoo Widgets. Interface is beautiful. I found something like a DASHBOARD like in Mac to the right of my monitor, also some 3 widgets already started. The thing i found was, those widgets that are running, will run on the desktop, misusing my desktop space. It cant be easily hide and reappear as Google Gadgets can nor can be kept in a place as we have a Sidebar in Google Desktop. Another stupid thing, that make Yahoo Widgets more childish is the sound, even though it can be removed from Preferences. First impression is the best impression, but in first 5 minutes of use, it crashed and had to close my explorer to recover.
Well next thing i see is a monopoly of yahoo, absolutely, i found all sort of Yahoo Stuff like flickr, yahoo contacts, yahoo mail, yahoo blah blah etc... installed by default. All options can be accessed only by right-click that i terribly hate. Now talking about the looks, well it looks awesome, cool effects etc... but looses its simplicity.
Then comes the dashboard like thing. We have a preview on the dashboard, and the widget on the desktop. Why wasting work space like this? It would be better if it was like click and drag to open thing. Like, if i need to Calender Widget, just click and drag the widget from the dashboard to the desktop, similarly to hide it, click and drag from the desktop to the dashboard.

The final thing is the memory usage... nearly uses 100 MB of my memory to run 13 widgets. see the screenshot, each widget has separate memory usages shows in the Task Manager.

Now comes the Google Gadgets. I had no crashed till date. All i am not happy about it is the Search Indexing. It takes lots of Disk Space even though the memory usage is less. The primary drive was out of space when i allowed indexing. But the searching is pretty good. Its fast and uses less system resources. The interface is good, not that beautiful as Yahoo Widgets, but its not needed. The happy thing is the sidebar, which helps to keep my gadgets in one place.

Also there is a small button appearing on the taskbar when the gadgets are undocked. If i press that button, i can hide all the gadgets easily.

And talking about the memory usage of Google Desktop, i installed 15 gadgets, and i found that the total memory used is only nearly 70 MB, that shows Google does not eat memory much..

Finally my suggestions, if you are a child, likes extreme effect, go for Yahoo Widgets. And if you are a power user, with rough use, then go for Google Gadgets. Also i dont know the technical side, i am saying only about the usabilty.
